The Port Moody Community Services Department is seeking personable, experienced and dynamic Speciality Instructors to assist with classes for preschool and school-aged children. This position is responsible for supporting a variety of programs in a recreational setting and provides a safe and secure environment for children.

Hours & Availability Requirements:

Monday - Friday from 8:45AM to 11:45AM
Tuesday - Thursday from 12:15PM to 2:30PM

These shifts are for June 2026 through to Fall 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the lead educator in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Assist with daily routines within the classroom setting
  • Support Supervision of children to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
  • Observe and document children’s progress and behavior.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development.
  • Follow all health, safety and City Policies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (ECA certification or coursework is a strong asset).
  • Experience working with young children in a childcare or preschool setting.
  • Knowledge of child development and early learning principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Clear criminal background check and immunization records as required by local regulations.

  • Familiarity with inclusive practices and diverse learning needs.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and classroom needs.
