Aging at Home Van Driver (On-call/Casual)
About the role
Job Summary: Noojmowin Teg Health Centre seeks the services of Aging at Home Van Support Drivers. The Van Support Driver will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to improve transportation services for individuals 55 years and older for the Manitoulin Island District. This initiative is designed to support healthy aging and independent living for individuals 55 years of age and older. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with various external organizations, establishing linkages with community programs and services Island-wide to enhance access to transportation services for medical care, home management and social programming
About: Noojmowin Teg Health Centre is comprised of a multi-team of health care professionals providing community-based services through the use of a wholistic approach that integrates both traditional and western healing methods. Our unique team includes Primary Care and Allied Health Services, Mental Health & Addictions Services, Health Promotion and Traditional Healing and Cultural Services. Services are offered on-site and community based (through the Manitoulin Island District First Nations Health Centres).
Given the traditional practices of the Anishinabek, from time to time, exposure to wood smoke and the burning of sacred medicines, including tobacco, sweet grass, sage, and cedar, may occur within the work setting.

Qualifications
Ability to travel Ability to work flexible hours from Monday to Friday Familiarity with local health and social services within the Manitoulin Island District Must possess CPR/First Aid Certificate Must possess a valid class G Driver’s License Must provide a Drivers Abstract Must provide proof of personal automobile insurance Must provide a “letter of experience” from your insurer Vulnerable Sector Check is essential Anishinaabemowin, as well as knowledge of Anishinaabe culture and traditions, is an asset
