If you’re interested in making a difference to people’s lives, the Treasury can offer you an exciting opportunity to influence decision making that affects the whole of the UK. Working at the heart of government, we collaborate across government to promote responsible public spending and drive strong and sustainable economic growth.

About The Team The Future Presidencies Unit sits in the Global Issues & Governance (GIG) team, promoting and protecting HMT's interests internationally through major multilateral economic forum.

It is a relatively new team leading the policy development and delivery of the Finance Tracks for future UK Presidencies of multilateral organisations, with it confirmed that the UK will host the G7 in 2028 and expected that we will host the G20 soon.

Both the G7 and G20 are led by a presidency country which rotates year on year, with responsibility for setting the agenda of that year, hosting meetings, delivering consensus across shared priorities.

About The Job Key accountabilities will include:

  • Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of logistics for events, including ministerial meetings and side events, ensuring all activities are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Oversee arrangements for venues, accommodation, transport, and other operational needs for delegates and officials, ensuring security and protocol requirements are met.
  • Ensure smooth running of the Finance Track Secretariat, managing communications with members, supporting delivery of meetings, and preparing agendas, notes, briefings and reports for members and senior officials.
  • Support the management of budgets, procurement processes, and resource allocation for Finance Track, working with HMT’s finance team to maintain accurate records and reporting.
  • Identify logistical risks and develop mitigation strategies, responding proactively to emerging issues to minimise disruption.
  • Provide support across the full unit as required, including leading correspondence and managing a shared mailbox.

These roles will sit in the delivery branch of the Presidencies Unit but will work across the full unit to ensure effective running of UK Presidencies. Portfolios will adapt and change during the lifecycle of the project, and all team members will be expected to work flexibly across workstreams as required.

Roles are exciting and challenging with significant responsibility. It will be a fast-paced period in the run up to and during Presidencies and will require an ability to deliver at pace and agility, so as a team we can enable the G20/7 to respond nimbly to global events.

About You You are a dynamic and results-driven professional with a proven ability to consistently meet milestones and deadlines. You bring a strategic mindset, balancing a wide range of internal and external factors to develop proposals that are both creative and impactful.

You have experience working with external partners, building trusted relationships that drive success. You are also forward-thinking and proactive, always seeking opportunities to create effective change and suggest innovative improvements.
