Accounts Payable Clerk
About the role
Northumberland Ferries Limited and Bay Ferries Limited, regional leaders in the passenger transportation industry, are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Clerk to join our head office team in Charlottetown. This position plays a key role in ensuring vendor payments are processed accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with Company policies and accounting standards. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be adaptable to new tasks, and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Key Accountabilities:
- Process accounts payable.
- Generate payment of invoices in a timely manner.
- Monitor multiple email addresses.
- Sort, organize, and maintain office records and files.
- Assist in month-end closing processes, including accruals and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with Company policies and accounting standards.
- Assist head office team with administrative tasks such as mailing, printing, and filing.
- Maintain organized and up to date financial records and documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Other duties, as required.
Education, Experience**:**
- Post secondary diploma in office administration or accounting would be an asset.
- Experience with Sage Intacct software would be an asset.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and math calculations.
- High School diploma is required.
- Bilingual French/English would be an asset.
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work.
- Proficient with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Schedule and Work Environment:
The workplace is the head office in Charlottetown. The hours for this position are generally from 8am to 4pm; however, as an essential industry that operates seven days a week, evening and weekend work will sometimes be required.
Additional Duties:
The contents of this job description highlight the essential duties of the Accounts Payable Clerk and may be assigned other duties as required within the scope of the role and/or to meet needs of the Company in a changing environment.
We expect to offer the successful candidate a starting salary of around $45,000 to $52,000 annually. The actual salary offered will be commensurate with education and experience.
