ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a passionate Medical Office Assistant who will provide administrative support by answering telephones, greeting visitors, and handling all administrative duties required by the medical office.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Answer general phone inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.

Direct phone inquiries to the appropriate staff member.

Reply to general information requests with accurate information.
-
Greet visitors to the organization in a professional and friendly manner.
-
Welcome clients into the medical office and if requested check them in or have them complete paperwork.
-
Sort incoming mail, faxes, and deliveries for distribution.
-
Prepare and send outgoing faxes, mail, and packages.
-
Forward incoming general e-mails to the appropriate staff member.
-
Perform data entry and upkeep of the organization’s databases, ensuring a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
-
Perform clerical duties, such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, or computer software as needed.
-
Draft correspondence and reports.
-
Order and maintain office supplies.
-
Assist with filing.
-
Assist clinicians with putting together files and paperwork for new clients.
-
Operate and maintain personal office space, staff room, and office equipment such as fax machines, photocopiers, voice mail messaging systems, and computer scanning equipment.

Provide administrative support to Nurses, Doctors, and other staff.
-
Provide general information to clients regarding programs offered in the community.

Collect from staff and assist in compiling the information and data for yearly reports.

Perform other related duties as required.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
-
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a similar role is required.

Certificate in Medical Office Assistant.

Experience working in a First Nations community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is a definite asset
-
Clean Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector required
-
Valid class 5 Driver’s License & Clean Driver’s Abstract required

The Fort McKay First Nation (FMFN) is composed of over 800 band members, including those of Cree and Dene heritage, with approximately 400 members residing in the hamlet of Fort McKay — a community located approximately 65 km north of Fort McMurray. Fort McKay First Nation (FMFN), located along the banks of the Athabasca River in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo north of Fort McMurray.
