ABOUT THE TEAM

Audio Visual Services is part of RRC Polytech’s Centre for Learning and Program Excellence and supports teaching, learning, and collaboration through reliable, well‑designed audio‑visual environments across the College. The team works closely with instructors and staff to ensure learning spaces and collaboration environments are equipped with technology that is intuitive, dependable, and fit for purpose.

AV Services supports a diverse range of spaces, including classrooms, hybrid and online learning environments, labs and simulation spaces, event venues, and Microsoft Teams Rooms–enabled classrooms, boardrooms, and meeting spaces. As a service‑oriented technical team, AV Services combines professional AV expertise with a strong focus on enabling effective learning and collaboration across RRC Polytech.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As an Audio Visual Technician, you will install, maintain, and support commercial‑grade AV systems across a wide range of learning and collaboration environments. Working as part of a collaborative technical team, you will ensure AV systems are reliable, well‑maintained, and ready to support teaching, learning, and institutional activities.

You will be responsible for installing and servicing displays, projectors, cameras, microphones, in‑ceiling audio systems, and AV control systems; troubleshooting system and network issues; responding to service requests; and supporting upgrades and new installations. You will work in classrooms, hybrid and online learning spaces, labs and simulation environments, event spaces, and Microsoft Teams Rooms–enabled classrooms and meeting spaces, helping to minimize disruptions and continuously improve the AV experience across RRC Polytech.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Certificate in media technology, electrical systems, IT/networking, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Experience and training working in the AV industry installing, maintaining and supporting audio-visual equipment including projectors, displays and in-ceiling audio systems Experience in installing, configuring, and servicing AV systems including Extron, Crestron, QSC, Logitech, and Microsoft Teams Rooms hardware Experience running, terminating, and testing communications cable in line with local building/electrical codes Experience connecting, setting up, and troubleshooting networked AV equipment, including working with IP addresses and resolving basic DHCP or DNS issues Ability to read and interpret CAD and architectural blueprints, including electronic block, schematic and line diagrams Ability to triage service calls and exercise sound judgement and critical thinking in prioritizing, troubleshooting, or escalating issues Ability to take initiative, work efficiently, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be able to lift up to 65 pounds Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

NICE TO HAVE

Experience with creating basic CAD elevations, floor plan, signal flow and ladder drawings for AV installations Experience with basic programming of AV control systems such as Extron and QSC. Any training or certification is an asset Holds a CTS certification (CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D) Experience working in an academic environment

Salary Range for this position: $54,571 - $76,814 per annum

Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends This position may be required to travel Incumbent must hold a valid class 5 driver`s license May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses The incumbent must possess a valid and current Manitoba Class M Voice, Data, and Video Cable Installer Limited Electrician's License, or have completed, prior to employment, the required 3,600 hours of supervised experience under a Class M license holder and be eligible to obtain the license within six (6) months of employment Incumbent must be able to lift up to 65 pounds
