We are seeking an experienced and motivated Reconstruction Superintendent to lead our reconstruction efforts. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in construction, and a deep understanding of restoration processes. This role involves overseeing internal and external carpenters, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management: o Recruit & train external sub-trades and in-house carpenters. o Supervise and mentor reconstruction team members, including in-house carpenters and external sub-trades. o Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional development.
Project Oversight: o Manage all phases of reconstruction projects from planning through scheduling, execution, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. o Coordinate with clients, project managers and subcontractors to facilitate smooth project flow and communication. o Ensure all materials needed are readily available, whether it be in inventory or on the job site. o Arrange to have a cleaner on site after the rebuild is complete.
Quality Control: o Establish and enforce quality assurance standards and procedures to ensure work meets company and industry standards. o Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and compliance with safety regulations. o Perform final walkthrough with labourer and the client to ensure satisfaction and obtain signature on completion certificates. o Evaluate client concerns and determine if the repair is covered by our guarantee.
Budget Management: o Manage project budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities. o Obtain multiple quotes when specialists are needed to ensure the best cost-to-value.
Compliance & Safety: o Ensure all reconstruction activities comply with local, provincial, and federal regulations, including building codes and safety standards. o Promote a culture of safety within the team and implement best practices to minimize risks.
Client Relations: o Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction throughout the reconstruction process. o Follow up with the project manager and report any schedule delays or site problems.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction or restoration management, with a focus on disaster recovery. · Proven experience in project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. · Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices. · Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. · Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities. · Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
