Our Life Skills Outreach Program in Red Deer is seeking a Full Time Permanent Intervention and Support Specialist

McMan’s PDD Life Skills Outreach Program provides hands-on training and education to clients. Intervention and Support Specialists focus on individuals who struggle with addiction and/or mental health issues along with the criteria for eligibility for Disability Services through the Government of Alberta.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Post Secondary diploma related to Human Services, preferred degree related to human services
  • At minimum 1 year frontline human services experience, preferred 3 years frontline experience with complex needs or co occurring disabilities in vulnerable populations
  • Proof of Membership in Professional Association (when applicable)
  • Experience in working with substance abuse, AISH, as well as PDD.
  • Committed to developing positive and therapeutic relationships with clients.
  • Basic First Aid Level C with Adult, Child, and Infant CPR &AED
  • Suicide Intervention Training & De-Escalation Training
  • Intervention Record Check & Criminal Record Check including the vulnerable sector.
  • Class 5 drivers license, clean drivers abstract and reliable vehicle for occasional client transportation required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Culture considered an asset.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work within a Harm Reduction framework
  • Working with high-risk clients with severe addiction and/or mental health issues
  • Develop trusting relationships with clients.
  • Assist with obtaining and maintaining housing.
  • Assist with daily tasks such as:
    • Money Management
    • Daily Medications
    • Grocery Shopping
    • Client Transportation
  • Encourage daily hygiene.

Wage Range: $27.28/hr. - $30.51/hr., wage to be negotiated based on education and directly related experience. Plus, Travel Reimbursement at $0.57/KM.

Hours of work: 40 hours per week. A flexible schedule required with availability to work evenings and weekends to meet client needs.
