About the role
Our client, a growing civil contractor based in Langley, BC, specializing in civil infrastructure, site servicing, utilities, excavation, and shoring projects, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team. This individual will oversee civil construction projects from pre-construction through completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage civil construction projects from initial planning and pre-construction through execution, closeout, and final handover. Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, cost forecasts, work plans, and resource requirements. Coordinate project teams, field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients. Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and other relevant documentation. Manage project financials, including cost tracking, forecasting, progress billing, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontractor payments. Procure materials and subcontractors, review proposals, negotiate pricing, and ensure alignment with project budgets and schedules. Identify project risks, operational challenges, and potential cost or schedule impacts, implementing solutions proactively. Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. Work closely with the estimating team during project handover, constructability reviews, and pricing of change orders. Monitor project performance and ensure compliance with contractual requirements, safety standards, quality expectations, and company procedures. Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, support field teams, and address project challenges. Manage project closeout, including deficiencies, completion documentation, final billing, and applications for substantial and total completion. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
Three or more years of project management experience in civil construction. Experience delivering civil infrastructure, utilities, excavation, site servicing, shoring, roadworks, or related heavy civil projects. Strong understanding of project financials, budgeting, cost control, scheduling, procurement, and contract administration. Experience managing projects from pre-construction through completion and closeout. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documentation. Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, clients, and internal project teams. Strong commercial awareness with experience managing change orders, progress claims, forecasting, and project risk. Organized, meticulous, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects. Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills. Proficiency with construction management, scheduling, estimating, and Microsoft Office software. A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is considered an asset. PMP, P.Eng., EIT, or other relevant professional designations are considered assets.
