Shape the future of correctional healthcare in Ontario
The Solicitor General is looking for an experienced healthcare leader to provide oversight in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of clinical services and allied health programs and services for correctional facilities across the province. The successful candidate will direct a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of safe and evidence-informed care, including oversight for primary and mental health services and infection prevention and control programs. You will provide subject matter expertise to ministry executives and multi-jurisdictional stakeholders on complex matters related to health and clinical program delivery across Ontario's correctional services.
This role requires transformational leadership to undertake strategic planning, modernization, and implementation of policy and program strategies and frameworks, to support the effective delivery of healthcare operations within provincial correctional institutions. Well-developed operational planning and change management skills will be required to align programs and services with the ministry's strategic direction and priorities. Your experience leading positive labour relations and cost-effective program delivery while achieving organizational goals will be important as you motivate your teams to achieve results.
About the job
The Director, Clinical Services has the following primary responsibilities:
- operational oversight of healthcare delivery within 25 correctional facilities across the province, including oversight of frontline healthcare staff
- ensuring safe, high-quality and equitable care by facilitating a standardized, patient-centered model of care that meets the diverse needs of people in custody
- developing key performance indicators and monitoring to ensure compliance with legislation, as well as ministry, professional and other recognized health standards
- driving modernization through improvements to the correctional healthcare model to address the complex physical, mental health and addiction care needs of the population
- providing expertise in the ministry strategic, business, and operational plan development and the analysis and resolution of service issues
- delivering accurate and timely information and advice to senior leaders and political audiences on matters related to clinical services, professional standards, and resources
- developing strategic, business and operational plans to optimize programs within available resources
- developing strategies, policies and accountability mechanisms to monitor and support the interests and rights of people in custody, stakeholders and the ministry
- leading health programs that promote equity and accessibility and are responsive to a diverse population
- supporting a comprehensive privacy program that defines and implements policies and processes that adhere to legislated privacy requirements

- extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory practices to direct the evaluation of professional standards, protocols and operational policies for the delivery of healthcare across provincial correctional facilities
- operational oversight experience to deliver healthcare services within correctional facilities across the province, ensuring a patient-centered standardized model of care
- a deep understanding of principles, theories and practices related to health policy and program design processes
