Qualifications:

  • Current certificate in safe food handling
  • Customer service training
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • WHMIS training and knowledge in Material Safety Data Sheets

Required Skills:

  • Ability and experience demonstrated through positive performance appraisals and work history
  • Knowledge of special diets
  • Minimum of one year experience (within the last 2 years) in large volume food service; institutional setting is preferred

Abilities:

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays and/or weekends may be required.

  • Able to function in a self-directed work team

  • Cafeteria duties including operation of cash register.

  • Monitors and updates special diets using computer program

  • Monitors inventory and process orders

  • Must be pleasant, co-operative and able to communicate well with patients, public, as well as Healthcare Team members

  • Other duties as required.

  • Possesses good organizational skills and able to speak and write English fluently

  • Practices safety procedures, accident prevention and proper lifting techniques

  • Preparation and/or portioning of food as well as kitchen/department clean-up duties (including pot wash/dish room duties).

  • Receipt and control of stock/goods.

  • Replaces staff when short call replacement is required

  • Stock/care/maintenance/control of Nutrition and Food Service Equipment (ie. food distribution carts/vending machines etc.)

  • Consistently meets attendance expectations, demonstrating reliability and commitment to scheduled shifts.
