About the role
Job Description The Lab Chemist provides sample/chemical preparation, analytical testing and reporting services. The lab Chemist will ensure that testing is done in a timely manner, while following all standard operating procedures. The lab Chemist will keep the lab clean and free from sources of contamination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working and coordinating closely with Operation and R&D teams
- Receiving, preparing, and analyzing samples from both experiment and production
- Conducting tests with different laboratory instruments
- Maintaining various types of laboratory equipment
- Handling oxides, metals, chemicals, compressed gas and other materials
- Carrying out administrative tasks such as maintaining lab records, documenting procedures, and preparing other related documents.
PREPARATION TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a BSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related science
- At least 1 year(s) experience in chemistry or related labs.
- At least 1 year(s) practical experience with ICP-OES.
PERSONAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Excellent self-driven, planning, and organizational skills coupled with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Familiar with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Being familiar with ICP-MS, ICP-OES, laser particle size analyzer and BET surface area analyzer would be great assets.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- This role requires the employee to be in the office 5 days per week, 40 hours per week.
- This position is based in a laboratory environment, significant time spent standing on a bench or sitting in front of a computer is required
- Maintaining a clean, sanitary, and hygienic work environment is essential
- Extra hours, weekends may be required. Able to possibly work afternoon shift.
