HOURS: Women's Centre Office hours - Monday-Friday, generally between 8:00am - 4:30pm, as needed

We are currently seeking a Front Desk Receptionist to join our team in Minden, Ontario on a Relief basis.
PURPOSE OF PROGRAM:
The Women’s Centre Front Desk Receptionist (Relief) provides reception support and performs a variety of clerical duties on a relief basis, as requested and as available.
Reporting to the Women’s Centre Manager, the Front Desk Receptionist (Relief) is responsible for promoting a positive image of the YWCA through personal, telephone and electronic contact with the public, working within YWCA Vision and Mission, values, policies and procedures.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the main office administrative communications and operations, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Answer phone lines, voicemail messages, and emails, directing callers to appropriate programs, services, staff, and resources.
- Greets, welcomes, and directs visitors, clients, and volunteers to the appropriate Women’s Centre staff.
- Sorts incoming mail and directs to the appropriate individuals or their mailboxes.
- Monitor the Women’s Centre security systems; report maintenance needs and repairs.
- Receive petty cash and donations following YWCA policies and protocols.
- Assist the Women’s Centre Manager with the promotion of YWCA services, events, and programs in Haliburton County, providing information and explaining their purpose as required.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated ability and experience working with multi-line phone system and with voicemail.
- Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to crisis situations in a sensitive and tactful manner.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, other software, and talk and text from cellular devices.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English. Additional languages (including ASL) an asset.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with the general public.
- An understanding of violence against women issues and knowledge of the issues related to women living in rural communities.
- Commitment to anti-oppression work and ability to work within a feminist framework.
- Experience and comfort with working alone.
- Non-Violent Crisis Prevention and Intervention and CPR/First Aid Certification an asset.
- Familiar with the YWCA Outreach Services and other local Community Services and resources an asset.
- Clear CPIC with vulnerable sector screening required
- The YWCA Vaccination Policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Valid exemptions pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
