Business Technology Co-op Student
About the role
The Co-op Student supports the Business Technology team by assisting with basic technical tasks, responding to user requests, and participating in day-to-day IT operations. This role focuses on developing foundational skills in technical support, device setup, account administration, and troubleshooting while working under the guidance of senior team members. The student contributes to a positive user experience by providing timely support, learning internal processes, and demonstrating strong customer service as they build confidence in a professional technology environment.

**Start Date:**May 2026
Compensation:$24 - $28 per hour
####Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Functional Knowledge
- Provide first-level support for common hardware, software, and connectivity issues, escalating complex issues.
- Assist with workstation setup, peripheral configuration, and basic troubleshooting.
- Support onboarding/offboarding steps including equipment preparation and account setup.
- Document issues, resolutions, and inventory updates.
- Help maintain IT inventory
- Monitor the ServiceDesk queue and provide timely responses.
Business Acumen
- Expand understanding of organizational workflows by proactively learning how network stability, user experience, and system availability support business operations and client service.
- Practice timely and professional communication with internal teams to ensure transparency and minimize disruption during troubleshooting, maintenance, or system changes.
- Recognize how issues related to performance, security, or downtime can impact productivity and project delivery, and use sound judgement when prioritizing or escalating concerns.
- Seek involvement in operational or cross functional discussions to build awareness of departmental priorities, technology dependencies, and emerging business needs.
- Respond to internal requests with a service oriented mindset, consistently demonstrating reliability, accountability, and a strong commitment to supporting colleagues across the organization.
Development
- Seek mentorship from senior technical team members to strengthen technical knowledge in networking, cloud environments, security practices, and enterprise system administration.
- Create a personal development plan aligned with career goals, monitoring progress through performance reviews and taking ownership of growth opportunities.
- Pursue ongoing learning in areas such as cybersecurity, Microsoft cloud technologies, service management practices, and modern network infrastructure.
- Take initiative in understanding new technologies or tools adopted by the organization, building technical versatility and readiness for more advanced responsibilities.
- Participate in training, knowledge sharing activities, and internal initiatives to strengthen technical expertise and contribute to team development.

Education
- Enrolled in Diploma or Degree in IT or Computer Related Studies (e.g., Computer Information Systems)
- Enrolled in formal Work Integrated Learning or Co-op Program
Certifications and Licenses
- Microsoft Certified: (Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900)), CompTIA A+ / Network+ / Security+ an asset
