About the role

Reports to: Technical Manager- Enterprise Infrastructure & EUS

Location: Mississauga, ON ( Hybrid)

Job Scope:
Responsible for designing and managing the ongoing operations of all infrastructure components, ensuring adherence to service level agreements, recovery point objectives, and recovery time objectives. This role involves leading projects related to servers and applications, providing hands-on Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical guidance, and ensuring the availability of all systems for the business.

This position is distinguished by the following:

  • Level of technical expertise required to manage complex business and technical solutions to meet business needs with the goal of guaranteeing server robustness, security, and efficient operation.
  • Requirement to train and grow knowledge on the back-end applications such as Network, SASE, EntraID, Azure, Active Directory, Backup Solutions etc.
  • Level of interpersonal skills to foster a cooperative, motivated and innovative work environment.
  • This position focuses on technology required for multisite environments including on-premises and cloud.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise in designing and implementing the infrastructure environment to ensure it meets current and future needs. This includes strategic design for on-premises and cloud services while ensuring the proper security and recovery of services, data and other assets.
  • Assume full responsibility for the lifecycle management of the infrastructure, encompassing installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and performance optimization of technology services including virtualization, SANs, servers, network (WAN/LAN), email, printers, applications etc.
  • Lead the design, testing, implementation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans for existing and new services to ensure adherence to SLAs. Update the disaster recovery plans for new systems and key learnings that come from each test.
  • Safeguard our data by rigorously managing backup systems, conducting regular backups, addressing any emerging issues, and verifying the integrity of our data recovery protocols.
  • Formulate and execute maintenance strategies to maintain systems at peak operational efficiency. Monitor system health, collate performance statistics, and proactively address errors and alarms.
  • Provide reporting and scorecards to executive management outlining the status of all systems and applications (availability, support status, patching levels, version status etc.).
  • Provide the development of IT policies and procedures.
  • Provide reports for IT audits. Recommend controls and work with auditors to get an outside view of the environment and implement remediation steps as required.
  • Work with 3rd party service providers to ensure system uptime, performance and stability. Follow vendor management guidelines for key partners.
  • Perform other assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary education in computer science or equivalent, coupled with relevant years of experience in a infrastructure role
  • 5+ years working in a IT infrastructure role
  • 5+ years of security experience with a strong understanding of security frameworks, audits and implementing controls in a data sensitive environment
  • Extensive experience with the implementation of advanced infrastructure technologies such as networking, SASE, Microsoft Azure, storage area networks (SAN), collaboration solutions, security controls, cloud services etc.
  • Ability to lead projects and work cohesively in a team environment
  • Familiar with MS Azure environment would be an asset
  • Hands-on experieices with Cisco Secure Connect SASE solution would be an asset
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts (OSI Layers, TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, IPSec, GRE, LAN, WAN, 802.1x, VTP, Spanning-Tree, IP routing, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, QoS, Trunking, and SDWAN)
  • IT certifications related to VMWare, Cisco, Windows Server, Azure would be an asset
  • Security related certifications (Security+, CISSP, CEH etc.) would be an asset
  • Ability to work outside of regular business hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends
