Are you a self starter with a strong background in accounting principles? Itziar Management is seeking a full time Property Accountant to oversee the financial aspects of a portfolio of commercial and residential properties.

We’re a local operator of quality apartments and commercial facilities in Vancouver and Victoria. Who You Are:

Detail oriented and accurate, you’re adept at managing data and working with the details. You organize yourself and your work efficiently and you have the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines. You’re technically proficient and comfortable working with software. You communicate clearly and can adapt your communication style when needed (we’re not all numbers people!). You can work independently but also enjoy working in a family-oriented environment as part of a team.

What You’ll Be Doing:

The Property Accountant is responsible for providing accounting services for their portfolio.

Duties include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Working with the Controller to complete month-end accounting processes including intercompany transactions, data management of rent charges and AP, to posting month-end journal entries and preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Liaising with the Office Manager on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including tenant billing and rent collections.
  • Performing monthly bank reconciliations and reconciling accounts receivable and accounts payable sub-ledgers to the general ledger.
  • Reviewing and investigating variances on the financial statements to budget and prior periods and provide reporting to management
  • Ensuring accurate recording and collection of monthly income
  • Processing remittances for GST
  • Providing accounting support to the property managers.
  • Working with property managers to prepare annual operating budgets for commercial properties with various year ends.
  • Preparing annual operating cost reconciliations with various year ends for commercial properties.
  • Preparing annual working papers for year end
  • Coordinating with Controller and external accounting firm to meet filing deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in property accounting or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or progress towards CPA certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience with accounting software Yardi Breeze is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary:

$65-80k per annum

Recruitment Process: Applicants will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A Criminal Record Search and reference checks will be conducted as part of the process.

Status: Full-time permanent

Hours Per Week: 40
