About the role

Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sales Manager to join Jim Pattison Auto Group. If you are a driven leader who is passionate about developing teams, delivering strong results, and consistently striving for operational and customer excellence, this role is for you.

In this position, you will be responsible for leading the sales department, driving performance, and ensuring a high standard of customer experience aligned with dealership goals and brand expectations.

Schedule: This is a full-time, permanent leadership role based on approximately 40 hours per week. Given the nature of the retail automotive business, this role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as well as additional hours as needed to support business operations and team performance.

This role reports to the General Manager of the dealership.

What We're Looking For

The Automotive Sales Manager is accountable for the operational performance, profitability, and customer experience of the sales department. This role requires data driven decision making, consistent leadership behaviors, and the ability to execute structured sales processes in a high volume dealership environment.

Sales Performance & Profitability

  • Achieve and exceed monthly and annual unit, gross, and penetration targets.
  • Monitor and improve closing ratios, average gross per unit, and inventory turn.
  • Ensure adherence to structured sales processes and manufacturer standards.

Customer Experience & Retention

  • Maintain high customer satisfaction and retention scores through consistent process execution.
  • Resolve customer and operational issues using timely, evidence-based decisions.
  • Support a culture of professionalism, accountability, and service excellence.

Market & Competitive Awareness

  • Analyze competitor pricing, incentives, and product positioning within the Canadian automotive market.
  • Adjust sales strategies based on market data, trends, and performance metrics.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Coach, performance-manage, and develop sales staff using objective KPIs.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training aligned with dealership standards.
  • Foster a results-oriented, collaborative, and compliant sales culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous Sales Manager or Assistant Sales Manager experience in an automotive dealership.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage performance using sales and financial metrics.
  • Proficiency with dealership sales software (e.g., 180, DealerMine or equivalent CRM/DMS tools).
  • Valid provincial driver’s license.
  • Valid VSA license.
  • Proven attention to detail, sound business judgment, and consistent follow-through.
