Rail Operations Analyst

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Rail Operations Analyst. In this role you will be responsible for railcar programming and execution of rail services to meet sales commitments and optimize terminal and country assets. You will manage relationships with country operations and North American railways to maximize car allocations and shipping capacity.

What you’ll do

  • Manage the weekly car allocation process within industry policy and regulations.
  • Manage the advance booking role and risk portfolio for all advance rail freight bookings.
  • Negotiate rail service requirements with railways ensuring maximum potential of railcar orders.
  • Coordinate the accessibility of country facilities with the railways to ensure transportation strategy matches current sales.
  • Communicate specific country and terminal elevator service requirements to the respective railroad and resolve all rail related service complaints in a timely manner.
  • Manage the allocation, execution, and tracking of multiple car incentive allocations to ensure maximum unit train opportunities.
  • Prepare and maintain shipping statistics on volumes, car spot utilization and service levels of all train runs.
  • Prepare reports on shipping performance by individual facility.

What you bring to our team

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in grain transportation and inventory management.
  • Post-secondary education is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of grain industry operations, transportation processes, and grain marketing.
  • Familiarity with country grain elevator operations.
  • Proven ability to work independently and build effective relationships with external partners.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong planning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, databases) in a Windows environment.
