The Opportunity

The Indirect Procurement Team is responsible for overseeing TC Energy spend for all indirect (non-pipeline operations related) spend. Environmental Services (ES) is a key component of the overall indirect spend portfolio. The Contract Specialist, Environmental Services specializes in and leads a portfolio of "spend sub-categories" related to the total environmental end to end process. This role includes monitoring emerging market trends, coordinating procurement strategies, managing vendor relationships and providing expert guidance within TC Energy and the operating business units across the USA and Canada operations.

The role is accountable to execute the following: Direct Supply Chain team, Procurement and Environmental Services strategic sourcing.

What You'll Do

  • Utilize extensive knowledge of procurement best practices, and supply chain management strategy to deliver procurement projects within each assigned spend sub-category
  • Translate program needs into appropriate solicitation documents, requirements documents, evaluation plans, and other procurement tools
  • Bid evaluation, including coordinating with clients and vendors throughout the tendering process
  • Internal research (via internal subject matter experts, hosted RFx, contract database, data extracts, etc.) and external research (via direct supplier communications, industry associations, available statistics/indexes, subject matter experts, etc.)
  • Make recommendations for contract awards, negotiates to achieve contracts, and coordinates briefings
  • Ensure ongoing contract management through supplier performance management and business unit engagement
  • Provide expert advice on supplier complaints and contract disputes, minimizing escalations
  • Lead the development of strategic alliances, partnerships and networks to ensure viable, long-term procurement feasibility
  • Lead complex stakeholder consultations
  • Support training/guidance on procurement and category management methodology

Minimum Qualifications

  • A University Degree and/or designation in Business, or a Supply Chain Management program
  • 6+ years of Supply Chain Management sourcing experience in Environmental Services and Waste Management Services sourcing and contracting experience
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in relevant field
  • Experience with relevant SAP/Ariba/PowerBI modules
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills; able to distill concepts and make them compelling and suitable for Executive Level presentation
  • Aptitude for technical topics, i.e., when sourcing a technical material or service, candidate is naturally interested in learning technical details of the material/service, experience with terms and conditions
