What We Look For In a French 3 Tutor
Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of French subjunctive mood, conditional tense, future tense, relative pronouns, advanced vocabulary, literary reading, and extended discourse skills. Ability to explain subjunctive triggers, conditional sentence structures, plus-que-parfait usage, and nuanced vocabulary distinctions while preparing students for advanced French coursework or AP French Language and Culture. Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching subjunctive mood application, conditional reasoning expression, and advanced reading comprehension in French. Guides students through writing essays, analyzing French literary excerpts, debating current events, and expressing nuanced opinions using advanced grammatical structures. Emphasizes developing stylistic sophistication in writing and speaking and connects French to literature, film, and current Francophone social issues. Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with French 3 curricula and common challenges such as mastering subjunctive triggers, applying conditional structures in context, and comprehending native-speed audio. Adapts instruction using French literature excerpts, film analysis, and extended writing projects to support upper-intermediate learners preparing for AP French Language and Culture or continued advanced study. Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles. Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style. Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
