About the role

Discovery Co-operative is hiring a Temporary Full-Time Clerk II for up to 9 months in our Meat Department at our North Battleford Food Store located in North Battleford, SK.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide safe, courteous, efficient and customer-focused service in our Meat Department.
  • Support Management by providing daily supervision to meet the standards set out by Discovery Co-op, and coordinate Team Members to follow to these objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures as required and comply with additional direction from Management.
  • Responsible for packaging, wrapping, displaying and pricing of meat products for sale to customers.
  • Using knives and other carving tools will trim meat/fish and seafood for value added cases.
  • Fill and rotate frozen and processed stock and orders and maintains fresh chicken stock and other meats as required.
  • Reviews and adjust all items in freezer cases, smoked meat cases, and fresh cases to ensure all stock is fronted and/or filled to ensure ease of guest access.
  • Completes data entry into scales to ensure specials are entered correctly. Responsible for being familiar with different product codes.
  • Displays signs appropriately, changes shelf tags as required and display’s Manager’s special.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties to ensure all areas of responsibility are safe, organized, and clean, including sharpening equipment and monitoring refrigeration temperature within all food safety standards and guidelines.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Retail and:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Experience in customer service or relevant meat experience is an asset.
  • Co-operative retail experience is an asset.
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate will be required within 3 months upon hire.
  • Must be comfortable working with different types of equipment such as computerized wrapping machines, meat slicers, pricing equipment, step ladders, etc.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, have good manual dexterity and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work regularly in cooler temperatures due to products in department.

A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
