Job Responsibilities As the Agriculture Sales Representative , you will represent Huron Tractor in Middlesex/Elgin/Oxford by promoting sales of new and used equipment to existing customers and identifying potential customers in the store location. Whether you have sales experience, or are starting your career in Sales, we will provide the training to help shape your future with Huron Tractor.
This position reports to the Branch Manager and is responsible to:
- Assess customers’ needs and resources, and recommend appropriate goods or services
- Proactively identify, research, and pursue new sales leads through a variety of channels to expand the customer base and generate business growth
- Work collaboratively with other sales representatives to offer the best service to all customers
- Prepare and administer sales contracts following a defined sales process
- Stay current on used equipment values for accurate trade-in evaluations
- Understand and remain current on equipment technology and innovations
- Utilize sales/marketing software packages and stay informed about financing options
- Provide ongoing customer support after the sale
- Conduct field demonstrations and stay current on product knowledge
- Keep up to date on product features and benefits for all available equipment
- Manage and update customer profiles to ensure accuracy
- Reconnect with pervious customers to strengthen and continue the relationship
Preferred Skills And Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience in equipment sales is preferred, however a proven sales record is essential
- Two years of post-secondary education in marketing/agriculture is an asset; however, the right mindset, drive, and interest in agriculture are essential
- A solid understanding of the agricultural industry and knowledge of farming and operational practices
- Experience operating John Deere equipment, with the ability to quickly master new equipment and effectively demonstrate features and benefits to customers
- Knowledge in precision agriculture, including usage, setup, optimization, and technical aspects
- Familiarity of the Elgin County area, including crop types and equipment adjustments for local areas
- Ability to build excellent customer relationships
- High energy and a positive attitude are a must
- Willing to work with peers as part of a sales team
- Takes initiative in the work being completed, while being self-motivated, and organized
- Possess a selling approach based on asking task-oriented questions, validating customer requirements, proposing solutions, and offering demonstrations
- Able to work flexible and extended hours
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- Proficient computer and software skills
