Job Summary:
As a Payments Business Development Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in growing our payments business by discovering new opportunities and building lasting relationships with clients. You'll manage a dynamic portfolio of business development initiatives while drawing on your industry expertise to forge strategic partnerships that drive real results.
What you’ll be doing:
Drive Growth & Strategy
- Shape and implement our business development strategy in the payments industry, identifying new market opportunities and establishing valuable partnerships
- Build and nurture a robust sales pipeline with an eye toward long-term growth potential
- Lead the entire sales process—from initial lead generation through to closing deals—while collaborating with teams across the organization to ensure client success
Be a Trusted Advisor
- Leverage your deep knowledge of the payments industry to stay ahead of trends, understand the competitive landscape, and anticipate client needs
- Connect with decision-makers at the highest levels of client organizations, building relationships that drive mutual growth
- Share your insights to inform product development and go-to-market strategies
Lead Key Initiatives
- Own the proposal and RFP process, coordinating contributions from subject matter experts across Central 1
- Organize and deliver compelling presentations and demonstrations—whether at client sites, virtually, or at industry events
- Develop, present, and negotiate proposals that showcase how our solutions meet client needs
- Monitor competitors and identify opportunities to enhance our offerings and maintain our competitive edge
Collaborate & Innovate
- Partner with Product Management, Finance, IT, Risk, Legal, Delivery, and Marketing teams to ensure our solutions align with client objectives
- Stay current on emerging technologies and market opportunities, bringing client perspectives and competitive intelligence back to the team
- Support clients post-sale during the delivery phase, ensuring a smooth transition to long-term account management
What you’ll have:
- 3+ years of successful experience selling Payments or related solutions in the Canadian financial services industry
- 5+ years in business development or B2B sales with progressively increasing responsibility
- Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience
- Deep knowledge of commercial and retail banking services, as well as payments products and services
- Understanding of the Canadian financial industry at a national level is a strong asset
- You're driven to achieve and exceed sales targets, with a genuine passion for driving revenue growth
- You have an entrepreneurial spirit and a proven track record of building strong, lasting client relationships
- You're a confident communicator with excellent presentation and public speaking skills—comfortable representing the company at client meetings and industry events
- You're self-motivated with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- You can influence and inspire others through your communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills
- You balance the needs of clients and the business with initiative and sound judgment
- You're detail-oriented yet flexible enough to meet the needs of a diverse client base
Salary: $96,000-$103,000
The salary represents the job rate determined for the successful candidate who is fully competent in the role. The actual salary will vary depending on market conditions and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
