Your role:
- Contribute to the leadership of the tax practice.
- Business development and relationship building with prospective and existing clients.
- Identification of new tax planning applications and dissemination of information to prospective and existing clients.
- Implement and oversee tax planning engagements
- Provide leadership and mentoring to staff members
- Staying current on Canadian tax legislation
- Creation and documentation of internal processes for efficiency and risk management purposes; review of internal processes for improvement.
- Ongoing technical and research support.
What you bring to the table:
- Previous experience in a public accounting firm.
- A commitment to learning in a tax environment.
- Historical success attracting new clients and/or managing existing client relationships to generate tax planning work.
- Technical knowledge of tax planning for Canadian private companies and their shareholders, including corporate structuring and reorganizations, family trusts, remuneration planning and sale planning.
- Research, analytical and problem identification skills.
- Computer skills including Caseware and Taxprep.
- Ability to convey complex concepts to clients, prospects and internal staff.
- Experience in coaching and developing staff.
- Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, project management and organizational skills.
- Strong understanding of a client-focused environment including organizational skills to handle multiple projects with conflicting timelines and the ability to work to meet those deadlines.
- Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
