Plains Midstream Canada (PMC) is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in transportation, storage, processing and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). Plains is seeking an Operations Technician for a 12-month term at our Empress Straddle Facility, located 100 km north of Medicine Hat. As part of one of North America’s largest gas processing operations, you will support both Operations and Maintenance teams while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
Living within 120 km of the Empress facilities is a condition of employment, and you must be able to work a regular 12-hour shift rotation.

Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain, and repair equipment and systems, including startup, shutdown, and isolation
- Collaborate with team members to monitor, log, resolve, and escalate operational and safety issues
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, policies, procedures, and site-specific training
- Maintain accurate records and submit required reports
- Keep work areas and equipment clean, orderly, and in compliance with safety regulations
Qualifications:
- 4th Class Power Engineering Certification (minimum requirement)
- Experience in gas plant operations or a related industrial environment (preferred)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and technical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with minimal supervision
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with computer systems and strong problem-solving abilities
- Highly motivated, eager to take on new challenges and grow professionally
- Unwavering commitment to safety in all aspects of the job
- Residence within 120 km of the Empress Facility
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass criminal background checks and provide satisfactory references
- Compliance with drug and alcohol policy, including pre-employment testing
- Ability to meet PPE requirements, including being clean-shaven for emergency equipment fit #Plains

PAA is a limited partnership engaged in the transportation, storage, terminalling and marketing of crude oil, refined products and LPG. Through its 50% ownership in PAA/Vulcan Gas Storage LLC, which it refers to as PAA/Vulcan, PAA is involved in the development and operation of natural gas storage facilities. The Company has no separate operating activities apart from those conducted by PAA. PAA manages its operations through three operating segments: transportation; facilities, and, marketing. PAA's natural gas storage operations are conducted through PAA/Vulcan, a joint venture between PAA and a subsidiary of Vulcan Capital Private Equity I LLC (Vulcan LLC).
