Position Summary:
The IT Service Desk is the central point of contact for all IT related incidents and service requests. The role of the IT Support Technician is to answer and process service desk requests, support system users and ensure proper computer and communications equipment operation where applicable. IT Support staff work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and provide the highest level of customer service support to all staff, physicians, affiliates and patients. Additional departmental administrative and reporting tasks must be completed as assigned.
Position Relationships:
Reports directly to the Manager of Building Services and Information Technology. Works as a member of the information technology team to ensure that the Organization’s information technology and communication investment is maximized.
Duties:
- Accurately record, update and resolve requests using the IT service desk system.
- Install and configure computer and telecommunications equipment.
- Resolve incidents with PC’s, printers, scanners, copiers, networking & phones.
- Perform system installations, software upgrades and updates, hardware and network configuration, backup and contingency planning, performance optimization, anti-virus installations and updates.
- Create and administer Active Directory user and computer accounts.
- Maintain excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff at all levels in the organization.
- Provide service over the phone, email and in person.
- Works closely with other members of the Information Technology team to ensure workflow, back-end processes and operating systems function optimally.
- Maintain corporate, staff and patient/resident privacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- At a minimum, completion of a one to three-year college program in a computer related field is required.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of progressive working experience in IT support or customer services is required.
- A+ certification or continuous training of current technology is preferred.
- Experience with implementation and maintenance of computer systems including hardware, software, networking, telecommunications and corresponding user liaison.
- Perform effectively in a detail-oriented work environment requiring a high degree of personal organization and accountability.
- Experience providing end-user support, including hardware/software diagnostics.
- Experience in hospital information systems and electronic health records is an asset.
- Demonstrated excellence with Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work independently and be self-directed in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Maintain organizational, staff & patient/resident confidentiality.
- Excellent attendance record.
