About the role
Job Description The Planner II is responsible for supporting the development of key micro schedules and the overall detailed schedule and leading specific planning tasks. They will be working across multiple projects, specifically JSS, OOSV and Polar as a point of contact for all end users across these areas. The role will involve working in Microsoft Project to develop schedules from inception through to go live and then weekly management. Within this role the Planner II will have to liaise with a variety of other stakeholders such as Production, Engineering, SCM etc. with support from the Ship Completions Planning Manager. There will also be an involvement in supporting the Ship Completions Planning Manager to document business processes and ensuring these are captured in the business QMS. The role will directly report to the Ship Completions Planning Manager.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver. What You’ll Do
- Lead or support the development of key micro schedules covering specific compartment completion or system install
- Lead or support the weekly management of the micro schedules including input of progress, updating of forecasts and running of progress sessions
- Support T&T Schedulers to roll up micro schedules so that they are reflected within the IMS
- Liaise with variety of other stakeholders including Production, Engineering and SCM
- Manage daily issues that occur within the micro schedules and react as appropriate
- Supports the development of defined process documents which will be held within the QMS
- Supports key meetings related to the detail of the micro schedules
What You’ll Bring
- Diploma or Technical certification in Trades (pipe or electrical) or Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 - 4 years’ experience working within a Planning team
- 1 – 3 years’ experience working within a Shipbuilding environment
- Achievement of PMP Certificate or similar would be beneficial
- Good understanding of standard planning practices, theories and terminology
- Demonstrated ability of working within a planning environment
- Some understanding and experience using Microsoft Project
- Strong problem solving skills, analytical abilities and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Strong commitment to the business deadline of critical deliverables.
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity and integrity.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent computer skills including MS Suite of tools.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve.
- Good judgment and reasoning skills.
- Ability to work with limited direction and to function as a key team member.
The estimated salary for this position is $84,600 - $103,400. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
