This contract position involves teaching Introduction to Machine Learning every Monday throughout the term, combining hands-on instruction with real-world examples and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, interactive classroom instruction aligned with the approved course syllabi.
- Prepare lesson plans, presentations, demonstrations, and learning activities.
- Facilitate hands-on programming exercises, labs, and classroom discussions.
- Assess student learning through assignments, quizzes, projects, and examinations.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Monitor attendance, participation, and academic progress.
- Maintain accurate student records and submit grades by established deadlines.
- Foster an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative learning environment.
- Participate in faculty meetings and work collaboratively with Academic Services as required.
What You'll Teach
This course introduces students to one of today's fastest-growing areas of technology by providing a practical foundation in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Rather than focusing exclusively on theory, students learn how machine learning models are built, trained, evaluated, and applied to solve real business problems.
Using Python and industry-standard machine learning libraries, students gain hands-on experience preparing datasets, developing predictive models, and evaluating model performance while learning how organizations leverage AI to make data-driven decisions.

- Foundations of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- Supervised and unsupervised learning
- Data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing
- Feature engineering and dataset preparation
- Regression and classification algorithms
- Clustering techniques
- Model training, validation, and evaluation
- Overfitting, bias, variance, and model optimization
- Decision Trees, k-Nearest Neighbours, Naïve Bayes, and introductory Neural Networks
- Practical implementation using Python, Scikit-learn, Pandas, and Jupyter Notebook
- Ethical considerations and responsible AI
Students complete several machine learning projects using real-world datasets, developing practical AI skills that can be applied across business and technology environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field considered an asset.
- Minimum 3 years of industry and/or post-secondary teaching experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java programming.
- Experience with Python and machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or similar tools.
- Experience teaching adult learners or international students is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and classroom facilitation skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts in an engaging and accessible manner.
Preferred Experience
- Software development experience in an industry setting.
- Experience with collaborative software development.
- Knowledge of AI and data science applications in business or technology.
- Experience developing project-based learning activities.

We are looking for an instructor who is passionate about modern web technologies and enjoys helping students build full-stack web applications using today's leading development frameworks and tools.
This course builds on students' foundational web programming knowledge and focuses on the development of enterprise-level web applications. Students learn to develop modern front-end applications using Vue.js, build server-side applications with Node.js and Express, integrate relational databases, and create secure, API-driven web applications through extensive hands-on projects.

What You’ll Teach
This project-based course prepares students to design, develop, and deploy modern full-stack web applications. Through a combination of lectures, coding labs, and a capstone project, students strengthen their front-end and back-end development skills while gaining practical experience with client-server architecture, RESTful APIs, authentication, and database integration.
