About the role

Dispatcher – Quebec City

Precision Parcel & Package Deliveries, a division of FastFrate, a “port-to-door” service provider with facilities from coast to coast, serving Canada, the United States, and Mexico — and established in Montreal for 60 years — has now expanded to Quebec City.

Position Objective

The Dispatcher plays a key role at the heart of daily operations, acting as the central link between drivers, customers, and internal teams. This position is responsible for coordinating, tracking, and optimizing the movement of goods, ensuring timeliness, adherence to procedures, and smooth communication across all channels.

A successful Dispatcher is an excellent communicator, a strategic thinker, and a calm problem-solver — able to adapt quickly to changing conditions, prioritize tasks, and make real-time decisions to ensure the smooth execution of operations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Route planning and optimization: Assign and adjust routes to maximize efficiency, minimize delays, and ensure on-time pickups and deliveries.
  • Driver support and coordination: Serve as the main point of contact for drivers, providing guidance, instructions, and ongoing support throughout the day.
  • Load management: Plan and track shipment volumes, balancing driver capacity with service expectations.
  • Problem-solving: Respond promptly to unexpected events (traffic, mechanical issues, missed deliveries), finding solutions while maintaining service quality.
  • System and compliance tracking: Use dispatch and logistics systems (e.g., TMS, GPS tracking) to record activities, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with company and safety protocols.
  • Customer communication: Coordinate with customer service and clients to provide updates, address concerns, and maintain positive relationships.
  • Documentation and reporting: Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, incidents, driver logs, and daily reports.

Other Duties

Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills — able to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills — clear, concise, and professional in all interactions
  • Proven ability to multitask in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
  • Creative and effective problem-solving mindset — quick to react and adaptable to challenges
  • Exceptional attention to detail — accuracy is critical in dispatch and compliance
  • High personal discipline, initiative, and ability to work independently — reliable without constant supervision
  • Collaborative and team-oriented attitude — works well with drivers, colleagues, and customers
  • Practical knowledge of routing software, GPS tracking systems, and Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and commitment to safety and compliance standards

Supervision

This position reports directly to the Operations Manager. Work is periodically reviewed by the supervisor or department head to ensure progress and alignment with organizational objectives. This role does not include supervisory responsibilities or authority over other team members.

Working Conditions

This position is based in a professional office environment and involves regular use of standard office equipment. Occasionally, minimal travel to other FastFrate sites may be required.

Accessibility

Consolidated Fastfrate complies with all accessibility laws for individuals with disabilities and provides an inclusive environment. We accommodate individuals with disabilities during the recruitment and assessment processes, as well as upon hiring and throughout employment.
