Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)

As an Intermediate ITV Specialist, the incumbent will actively participate in System Design to develop requirements that can be practically validated and defines the methods of validation. Supports preparation of test plans, procedures, and reports to validate specified requirements. Performs tests in-plant and at project sites in accordance with these test plans and procedures. Supports project ITV work. Writes test automation scripts.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform analysis of system, subsystem, and software requirements to define validation methods and test cases.
  • Support plans for the ITV Project work, including the preparation of ITV test plans.
  • Perform integration and test activities in-house and at project sites to mitigate key project commissioning risks.
  • Prepare Test Procedures in accordance with ITV test plans.
  • Perform commissioning tests in plant and at project sites.
  • Prepare test automation scripts.
  • Prepare test reports that record the pass/fail status of planned tests and identify problems detected during the tests.
  • Develop product knowledge through formal and informal training, OJT, and self-study.
  • Investigate test anomalies through analysis of data files, design documentation, and interaction with development departments.
  • Prepare problem reports in the defect tracking system describing test failures and defects.
  • Assist in the development of ITV schedules, budgets, and associated progress reporting.
  • Participate in marketing activity by estimating new project work costs, drafting proposed commissioning and cutover plans, and responding to project RFQs.
  • Identify test objectives and test cases.
  • Keep current with company test processes and methods.
  • Perform traceability analysis and design reviews.
  • Assist in development of ITV processes and tools.
  • Assist in project schedule and budget activities.
  • Participate in resolving integration issues, problem identification, analysis, and rectification of anomalies.
  • Perform independent reviews of test results.

Key Requirements:

  • B.Sc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years’ experience in testing of embedded real-time systems or equivalent software or hardware test experience.
  • Real-time embedded mission-critical system test experience.
  • Knowledge of railway signaling techniques.
  • Knowledge of test methods and procedures.
  • Competence in technical writing.
  • Excellent communication skills in verbal, oral and written skills in English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Company product knowledge (SelTrac).
  • Competence in team leadership.
  • Knowledge of systems to be employed.
  • Understanding of the roles of other departments as related to Verification and Validation/Test.
