About the role
About Us
Sick of commuting? Tired of “hybrid” jobs that are really “in office” jobs in disguise? If you’re more productive at home than in an office, and want to make that arrangement permanent, we may have the position you’re after.
At CarriersEdge, we’re focused on producing great quality products and happy customers. We don’t care about being the coolest company in town, having the most amazing office perks, or the hippest staff. If you’re interested in those things, you’ll hate us.
On the other hand, if you’re not looking for a social group and just want to do great work, then you may be exactly what we’re looking for. We don’t care where you work and we won’t be looking over your shoulder micromanaging you. You’ll have minimal meetings disrupting your week, and plenty of time to focus on doing the best job possible. We’re growing, but not so quickly that things are chaotic.
As part of that growth, we’ve got an opening for a Digital Designer .
The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in the skills outlined below, is a self-learner with a great work ethic, and has a keen interest in communicating through visual and UX design.
This isn’t a big company with layers of bureaucracy and committees for every decision. It’s also not an agency where you’ll get crushed by client demands and deadlines. Our business is established and stable, but still small enough that we can move quickly. If you fit the profile below, send us your résumé and a link to your portfolio and let’s talk.
About You
- You like to understand the “why” behind any assignment, including the context of the end user, so that your design solutions will be effective for the intended audience
- You’re a creative generalist, comfortable delivering across media — from print and web to social and video — and you like to teach yourself new tools
- You’re comfortable moving between various business functions (e.g. marketing, development) and have a track record of success across a diverse range of projects
- You have advanced knowledge of Figma best practices (particularly related to large-scale website builds). You’re the person everyone goes to for tips and the go-to resource for major projects
- You're equally comfortable collaborating with others or working solo, and you can reliably build on the design work of others
- You have a bias towards action. When you’re not sure what to do you explore past work, consider broader context, and seek out answers to forge ahead intelligently
- You are meticulously organized, you’re allergic to badly-organized files, you can follow existing processes, and other designers can easily understand your project files
Your Typical Week
Reporting to the Creative Manager, you will collaborate with team members from Marketing, Platform Development, and Content Services to design marketing materials, interactive courses, and application interfaces.
Your creative output will range from UX and UI assignments to printed multi-page books, trade show graphics and more.
As we move toward redesigning our web properties, you will bring your expertise in Figma to bear, guiding the process with your knowledge of industry-standard best practices.
Requirements

- Demonstrable, expert knowledge of Figma, including ambitious web builds
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability read thoroughly and follow instructions, so please find a way to mention lollipops in your cover letter
- Ability to work independently, but also closely with other designers, developers, and marketing teams to ensure visual designs align with project goals
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- MUST reside in Canada
Bonus Points
- Experience with Adobe After Effects or Animate
- Experience creating or contributing to design systems
- French is an asset
Additional Notes
