About You / What We Are Looking For

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Equipment Operator 3 for our Monday to Friday operations in Public Works. As an Equipment Operator 3 you will be performing skilled work involving mechanical street sweeping and other public works related work. In this position, you will have a variety of daily tasks such as street sweeping, snow plowing and operating single & tandem axle dump trucks. You may also be called upon to perform routine repairs involving the maintenance and repair of asphalt roadways & pathways, maintenance of boulevards & pedestrian passages, vegetation & debris clearing, and assisting in concrete finishing tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Have considerable related work experience in Road operations
  • Have completed relevant post-secondary courses in Public Works
  • Possess sound knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in road infrastructure maintenance
  • You will also have the ability to recognize and apply safe work procedures
  • We will require you to have a valid Class 3 BC Driver’s License with air brake endorsement by the end of the probation/trial period. All applicants are required to upload a current driver’s abstract to your application.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with municipal or roadway construction experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the operations of mechanical sweepers and roadway snowplowing operations.

What We Offer:

This CUPE position has an hourly rate of $37.15 (2025 rates). The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
