Are you an organized, people-focused professional looking to make a difference in health care? Join our compassionate and collaborative team as a Health Records Clerk. In this essential administrative role, you’ll be responsible for managing the electronic records scanning process and supporting the Health Information Management team. Your work will directly contribute to the integrity of patient documentation and the smooth operation of clinical services.
As a Health Records Clerk, your responsibilities will include
- Collecting charts from hospital units and preparing documents for scanning
- Scanning and indexing patient records using computerized scanning applications
- Managing electronic health records to ensure proper documentation and accessibility
- Lifting and storing boxes of records in designated areas
- Retrieving patient records and calculating statistics for reporting
Education
- Grade 12 and one years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Ability to keyboard at 40 w.p.m.

Your Day to Day
- Retrieves, updates, and maintains patient records using computerized record systems.
- Processes patient records by assembling, verifying, correcting information, merging duplicates, and managing documents within the Admission, Discharge, Transfer, and Electronic Health Record systems.
- Locates and delivers patient charts, referring unusual requests to the Manager/Coordinator.
- Handles clerical tasks for electronic records scanning, including chart pickup, preparation, scanning, indexing, and accuracy verification.
- Performs reception duties such as answering calls, directing visitors, and providing routine information.
- Prepares and requests records for offsite storage using computerized systems.
- Balances census per established procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
