About the Role:
We are seeking a Payroll Administrator with experience using UKG to join our People and Culture team. This role is key to ensuring smooth, accurate, and timely payroll operations for our staff, faculty, and subcontractors. You will handle end-to-end payroll processing using UKG, support onboarding and benefits administration, and contribute to regulatory compliance across multiple provinces.

  • Location: Hybrid – Surrey, BC
  • Employment Type: Full-Time, Temporary 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension
  • Start Date: As soon as possible
  • Salary: $50,000–$55,000 per year

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Operations

  • Process semi-monthly payroll using UKG for staff, faculty, and contractors
  • Maintain accurate employee records including new hires, terminations, and pay changes
  • Monitor payroll and HR inboxes, responding to inquiries or escalating as needed
  • Ensure payroll documentation is complete and submitted on time
  • Record and reconcile earnings, deductions, and insurable hours
  • Prepare ROEs and various payroll reports (such as RRSP or year-to-date summaries)
  • Troubleshoot payroll issues with professionalism and efficiency

Vacation, Benefits and Compliance

  • Track vacation accruals and ensure usage aligns with entitlements
  • Reconcile benefit deductions and update UKG rates as needed
  • Prepare WCB, OHIS, WorkSafeBC, and EHT remittances
  • Support GL account reconciliation and ensure compliance with internal policies

Administrative and Onboarding Support

  • Review new hire paperwork and monitor onboarding status in UKG
  • Deliver payroll orientations for new staff
  • Ensure data consistency between HR records and payroll
  • Provide general administrative support to the People and Culture team

What You Bring

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in payroll, clerical, or administrative roles
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation from the National Payroll Institute
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and PDFs
  • Familiarity with the Employment Standards Act and payroll best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally

Nice to Have

  • Experience with UKG payroll systems is an asset
  • Previous work experience in post-secondary education or a regulated industry
