Artelys develops the Artelys Knitro optimization solver, the most advanced solver for nonlinear optimization. Nonlinear optimization problems arise in numerous commercial and industrial applications such as energy, finance, economics, robotics, fluid dynamics, and more. To tackle these challenging problems, clients from hundreds of institutions worldwide rely on Artelys Knitro for its efficiency and robustness.
Job description
As part of the Montréal team, you will leverage your analytical and commercial skills to maintain and expand Artelys’ customer base in the U.S. solver market, while supporting the development of the Canadian subsidiary.
Business Development – United States
You will contribute to business development activities for the Components offering in the U.S. market, including:
- Customer Retention: Maintain, monitor, and nurture relationships with existing customers, including academic, commercial, and institutional clients.
- Feedback & Improvement: Organize customer feedback meetings to better understand their needs, use insights to guide product development, and conduct continuous competitive monitoring.
- Customer Acquisition / Prospecting: Respond to inquiries from potential customers, provide comprehensive information, clearly communicate the benefits of our Artelys Knitro solution, and carry out proactive outreach activities.
- Sales Support: Assist in drafting commercial proposals, monitoring and preparing responses to calls for tenders, and supporting U.S. sales of Artelys Knitro.
- Administrative Follow-up: Track and report on software sales, renewals, and invoicing.
- Events: Participate in North American events to attract new customers, showcase our product, and build relationships with potential clients.
Business Development & Management – Canadian Subsidiary
You will also support business development and management activities for the Canadian office, including:
- Business Development: Contribute to the subsidiary’s business development, respond to calls for tenders, and support the creation and monitoring of development plans.
- Operational Management: Support activity planning and employee allocation across various projects.
- Internal Tools: Help develop or improve management and project-tracking tools, and contribute to reporting on their implementation.
Profile
This is a permanent local contract based in our Montréal office.

Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in business school or equivalent, combined with technical training/experience; or engineering school degree or equivalent, combined with commercial training/experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in business development, preferably in the software or technology sector.
- Languages: C2 level in English (spoken and written) and at least B2 in French.
- Strong knowledge of the U.S. market and, more broadly, the North American market, demonstrated through prior professional or academic experience in the region.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, data analysis, and general MS Office tools.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with strong attention to detail in follow-up.
- Versatility, autonomy, organization, and rigor.
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the energy or transportation sector and strong interest in trends related to these industries.
Working conditions:
- Up to 2 days of remote work per week
- 40-hour work week
- Offices located in the city center of each city where we are located

- Step 2: A second interview via video conference with two other recruiters, as well as a brief 15-minute discussion with the CEO of Artelys (45 minutes x 2 + 15 minutes).
