Levitt-Safety has an exciting opportunity for experienced vehicle fire suppression system technicians to join our team in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Levitt-Safety is looking for an experienced Vehicle Fire Suppression Systems (VFSS) Technician to join our team in Fort McMurray. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional with 2–3+ years of hands-on VFSS experience who wants to make an impact in a safety-critical industry while enjoying a highly desirable compressed schedule.

What You’ll Do:
As an experienced member of our field service team, you will:

  • Perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of vehicle fire suppression systems on heavy-duty and off-road equipment across multiple sites.
  • Conduct regular and emergency service visits, including fire extinguishers, alarms, and other safety equipment.
  • Lead by example in safety practices, hazard awareness, and adherence to safe work procedures.
  • Accurately complete inspection reports, service documentation, and work orders, ensuring traceability of deficiencies, corrective actions, and parts usage.
  • Collaborate with customers by providing expert technical recommendations and solutions for fire protection improvements.
  • Mentor junior technicians and support inventory and quality initiatives as required.

What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of direct experience servicing Vehicle Fire Suppression Systems (VFSS).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and advanced troubleshooting skills; basic electrical knowledge an asset.
  • Experience working with heavy vehicles, mining, or industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Professional, reliable, and safety-driven approach.
  • Proficiency with iPads, laptops, and mobile apps for field reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background, drug, and alcohol screening.

Safety Requirements

This is a physically demanding role requiring the ability to:

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Work in confined spaces (e.g., engine compartments).
  • Work at heights on large mining equipment.
  • Walk on uneven terrain in outdoor environments.
  • Pass ongoing pre-access drug and alcohol testing (including cannabis), as required by our clients.
