About the role

Job description:

The BOP Electrical Designer, reporting to the BOP Engineering Manager, is responsible for preparing all technical documentation related to the electrical auxiliaries of new and refurbished hydroelectric turbine‑generator units. This includes instrumentation, lighting, power supplies, grounding, motor starters, junction boxes, control panels, and condition‑monitoring systems.

The following responsibilities form the core of this role in our Canadian team.

•    Develop detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using CAD/CAE software (AutoCAD).

•    Produce technical documentation, including instrumentation lists, cable schedules, load calculations, datasheets, functional descriptions, O&M manuals, and as‑built documentation.

•    Review technical specifications, equipment datasheets, and standards to verify that the design meets all applicable requirements.

•    Conduct field surveys to validate existing equipment, cable routing, and spatial constraints.

•    Review legacy drawings (single lines, wiring diagrams, P&IDs), check for inconsistencies, and perform red marking.

•    Identify demolition scope: obsolete cables, junction boxes, sensors, cabinets.

•    Define interface points between new equipment and existing systems (power feeds, control I/O, interlocks, instrumentation).

•    Maintain drawing accuracy, version control, and adherence to drafting standards.

•    Enter relevant data into the material resource planning system.

•    Review and improve existing templates, standards, and design practices.

•    Stay current with industry technologies, evolving standards, and software capabilities.

•    Propose improvements to optimize manufacturability, constructability, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Why do you fit the profile? Successful teams share objectives, but also values! Beyond your skills, we are looking for someone who is motivated, positive, and ready to invest in the team. Your commitment to ethics and quality will make a real difference at Andritz.

The ideal candidate should be willing to work in a complex, fast-paced environment, with evolving priorities. Result and solution-oriented candidates who follow through with ideas and commitments will perform well within ANDRITZ. As our projects have large scopes and often require years to be completed, your perseverance will be valued with us.

•    ACS, DCS, or equivalent training.

•    Experience with AutoCAD (required).

•    Experience in the hydroelectric field (asset).

•    Knowledge of instrumentation (selection, configuration, testing) (asset).

•    Experience with 3D modeling (asset).

•    Experience in control panel design (asset).

•    Bilingual in French and English (required).

•    Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills (required).

•    Ability to self‑learn software tools (required).

•    Willingness to travel and perform occasional field work.

What do we offer •    Life, disability, dental and extended health insurance;

•    Pension plan;
