Role Summary

The QA Lead is responsible for defining and executing comprehensive quality assurance strategies across programs, platforms, and shared services. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, stable, and scalable technology solutions by collaborating with application, middleware, infrastructure, and product teams throughout the development lifecycle. The QA Lead will lead test planning and execution, drive automation initiatives, enforce QA governance, manage defect resolution, and support release readiness across environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement QA strategies for both program-level initiatives and enterprise platforms.
  • Define and monitor quality metrics and KPIs for application and platform stability, performance, and scalability.
  • Ensure adherence to SDLC processes, QA governance, and documentation standards.
  • Design, develop, and maintain test plans for infrastructure, middleware, APIs, integrations, data, and applications.
  • Execute functional, integration, regression, performance, and security testing across environments.
  • Maintain and enhance platform regression test suites; ensure coverage during new initiative delivery.
  • Drive automation strategy, including API testing and service virtualization, to improve efficiency and reduce cycle time.
  • Implement and maintain best-in-class automation frameworks and tools.
  • Detect, document, and triage defects; maintain centralized defect repositories and perform historical analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure platform readiness, compatibility, and quality objectives.
  • Plan and manage release schedules; coordinate end-to-end test execution and validate production fixes.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to quality, performance, and compatibility.
  • Provide guidance on testability requirements and review processes.
  • Support intake assessments and estimation for supplier engagements and platform enhancements.
  • Monitor performance and provide actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Mentor QA team members and foster communities of practice.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and QA best practices.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA or MBA/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in QA, with at least 3 years in a lead role across programs or platforms.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, QA methodologies, metrics, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Expertise in API testing, middleware validation, and platform performance testing.
  • Proficiency in automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Postman, REST Assured) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with JIRA, Azure DevOps, and test management solutions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; data-driven decision-making.

Preferred Experience

  • Financial services or regulated environments.
  • Cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and microservices architecture.
  • Security and compliance testing for enterprise platforms.
  • Experience in Application Lifecycle Management

  • On-time QA sign-off for releases.
  • Risk identification and mitigation effectiveness.

Salary:

$75,900.00 - $141,900.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
