Quality Assurance Manager Edmonton, Alberta, Canada | Full-Time
Location Requirement: This role requires candidates to be currently based in Canada. Applications from candidates residing outside Canada will not be considered and will be automatically disqualified.
About the Role Reporting to the General Manager, Concrete, this role sits within the Quality Assurance/Quality Control department for the Greater Edmonton / Northern Alberta area. You'll optimize mix designs and raw material costs, implement quality procedures and policies, drive product development, and support customers and sales teams — while leading a team of QA/QC technicians in the field.
What You'll Accomplish
Develop and standardize quality plans and processes across the region, working with General Managers and conducting quality audits per the WCan Quality Control Manual. Lead and develop the regional Quality Assurance team. Assess concrete mix designs for quality, cement efficiency, and cost-reduction opportunities using field data and technical software; design lab experiments for new product development. Represent the company with technical associations across Alberta. Liaise with specification writers, engineering consultants, architects, government agencies, and customers to promote company products and services. Partner with the Cement Division on material and product quality. Work with Concrete & Aggregate QA and Sales to pre-qualify construction materials and support project bids. Review, prepare, and submit mix designs for various projects as required. Apply CSA A23, A283, A3000, and relevant ASTM/provincial/municipal codes for compliance. Champion safety as the top priority, promoting a strong safety culture across all work areas.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's Degree or Professional Technologist Designation 3-5 years' experience in concrete or a related industry P.Eng. or P.Tech. registration; ACI & CSA Concrete Testing Certification an asset Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, SAP Strong technical grounding in ready mix, concrete, cement, and aggregates Strong analytical, report-writing, and communication skills Proven team leadership and development ability Safety-first mindset; willingness to travel (~10%) and work extended hours when needed Must comply with all safety protocols and PPE requirements, including respirator use (clean-shaven where the seal meets the face, to pass fit testing)
