The Compliance Officer is responsible for completing approvals and audits of compliance to MFDA regulations for mutual fund licensed representatives. Responsibilities include ensuring timely completion of approvals, and audits according of statutory regulations, procedures, and risk; completing close supervision to newly licensed representatives and when required. These duties are to be completed while providing a superior level of customer service and while maintaining a high degree of accuracy. This includes both regular and ad hoc audits as required.
What you’ll do:
- Approve, review, and follow up on mutual fund trades, new accounts and material changes for suitability when initiated by Investment Specialists, Relationship Managers, and Member Experience Specialists.
- Provide close supervision to newly licensed representatives. Close supervision includes reviewing and approving all trades, reviewing files and notes with each trade, and documenting any deficiencies.
- Approve communications that contain mutual fund information being sent from a licensed representative to a client.
- Track mutual fund licenses, insurance licenses and association memberships.
- Proactively report and communicate over-all mutual fund compliance.
What you bring:
- Minimum 2 years of sales experience as a registered rep of mutual funds
And/or 2 years experience in mutual fund compliance - One of the following mutual fund registration courses:
- Canadian Investment Funds Course
- Investment Funds in Canada Course
- Canadian Securities Course
- One of the following courses and its accompanying exam:
- Branch Manager’s Examination Course
- Branch Compliance Officer Course
- Branch Managers Course
- Must have successfully completed the above noted exam within the previous 3 years or been registered as a Branch Manager within the previous 3 years.
Please note, if you have not yet passed any of the required examinations, we will consider applicants who will commit to challenging and passing the required exam(s) prior to starting in the position.
What we offer:

Prospera offers a total compensation package of base salary plus incentives that is market competitive and reviewed annually. Our expected starting salary for this role is $69,750 to $77,500 based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity.
