GIS Analyst

Halton Hills Hydro Inc. is currently seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of GIS Analyst. This role is in-person at our office in Acton, ON. Under the direction of the GIS and Business Systems Supervisor, the successful candidate will maintain and enhance our enterprise GIS, ensure high-quality asset data, support field crews and engineering, and contribute to modernization initiatives such as the Esri Utility Network expansion, dashboards, online maps, data collection apps and enterprise asset management integrations.

Halton Hills Hydro Inc. is a community-focused electric distribution utility servicing approximately 23,000 homes and businesses across a 281sq. km service territory within the Town of Halton Hills. Located 15 minutes north of the 401, our office is accessible by GO Train and bus, and falls within a 35km radius of major urban centres, such as Guelph, Milton, Brampton, Mississauga, Cambridge, and Orangeville. The Town is ranked as one of the top small communities in Canada by a national magazine.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about spatial data, utility infrastructure, and delivering high-accuracy mapping to support safe, reliable electric operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update electric distribution asset data in the enterprise GIS, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and strong data governance to support safe and reliable operations
  • Support Esri platform workflows including ArcGIS Pro, Utility Network editing, branch versioning, and subnetwork updates, contributing to the ongoing modernization of the GIS environment.
  • Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot mobile data collection tools (Field Maps, Survey123) to enable efficient inspections and field verification activities.
  • Develop high-quality maps, map books, dashboards, and spatial analyses for engineering design, operations planning, outage response, regulatory reporting, and leadership decision-making.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Regulatory, and IT teams on cross-functional projects, including data cleanup initiatives, system integrations (e.g., AMI, ADMS/OMS/DER), and process improvements.
  • Document workflows, contribute to GIS standards, and support training for internal users to enhance GIS literacy and promote consistent usage across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Engineering Technology, or a related field

  • Minimum 3 years of GIS experience, preferably in utilities, municipal infrastructure, or asset management

  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal & Server), enterprise geodatabases (SQL Server or PostgreSQL), and branch versioning workflows

  • Strong understanding of geospatial data models, topology, projection systems, and asset management practices

  • Experience with the Esri Utility Network model, including domain networks, asset groups/types, rules, terminals, and subnetworks (preferred)

  • Experience with ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, Python/ArcPy, Arcade, ModelBuilder, and CAD/GIS integration (preferred)

  • Familiarity with electric distribution systems, including circuits/feeders, transformers, and switching devices (preferred)

  • Strong communication and documentation abilities

  • Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on accuracy and safety
