The Clinical & Administrative Coordinator position provides a broad range of clerical and administrative support to help patients access PCN services. This includes processing referrals from member physicians, reception coverage, and assisting several on-site specific programs and clinics.
This role will support and report to the Manager, Clinical Services and is based out of the Edmonton Community Health Hub location.
Position
Administrative Support:
- Process referrals received from member physicians
- Schedule and confirm appointments
- Maintain, organize and enter patient information in the EMR
- Manage and update individual clinician, group and on-site physician’s schedules
- Administer and manage all inbound/outbound fax and mail
- Receive, process and record all incoming calls
- First point of contact for all patient inquiries
On-Site Physician Support:
- Escort patients to their appointment
- Assist with various medical and surgical procedures
- Maintain and order medical and office supplies
Reception & Scheduling:
- Greet and respond to telephone, email and in-person inquiries
- Receive and record payment for services
- Check-in and direct clients to appropriate areas
- Take and record telephone, email or written messages
Report to
Manager, Clinical Services
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Medical Office Administration (MOA) Diploma or Unit Clerk Diploma in preferred
- Combination of education and experience appropriate to the position will be considered
Experience
- At least two (2) years’ experience in a PCN and/or medical setting, particularly in community health, is an asset
- Experience with Alberta Health billing preferred
- Experience with transcription is preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge/expertise at an advanced level with Microsoft office applications (outlook, Calendar, Word, Excel and Power Point)
- High awareness of the programs and services of Alberta Health Services and other agencies available in the community is an asset
Skills
- Knowledge of minor medical procedures is preferred
- Knowledge of MedAccess (EMR) and Alberta NetCare
- Demonstrates common understanding of medical terminology required
- Ability to organize time, multi-task and set priorities to meet various deadlines and maintain a flexible schedule
- Able to work with minimal supervision, organizational skills and ability to prioritize
