Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM) is a forward-thinking mining company redefining the industry. We are seeking a Surface & Mill Trainer to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working a14/14 rotation.
Foran Mining is a modern mining development and exploration company advancing Canada's only greenfield copper project currently under construction: the McIlvenna Bay deposit in Saskatchewan. As part of the Health & Safety Team, the primary responsibility is to assist the Training Supervisor in identifying training needs and designing and delivering comprehensive training programs for employees, contractors, and stakeholders. You will develop engaging materials, conduct interactive sessions, evaluate their effectiveness, and ensure compliance with safety regulations while fostering proactive safety practices.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and development of training programs for surface and mill operations and maintenance, aligned with regulations and industry best practices.
- Deliver engaging training sessions to employees, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Provide instruction on hazard identification, risk assessment, and safe work procedures.
- Deliver specialized training on the safe operation and maintenance of mobile equipment and machinery.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through testing, quizzes, and participant feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, and evaluation results.
- Promote a strong safety culture and encourage proactive reporting of safety concerns.
- Identify opportunities to improve training programs and safety procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings and workshops to reinforce safety messaging.
- Support compliance with health and safety training requirements and refresher training.
- Conduct health and safety orientation for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Assist with incident and accident investigations and support the identification of preventative measures.
Job Qualifications and Skills:
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related discipline is preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in a similar role within a mining environment.
- Relevant health and safety certifications such as CSP, CST, or CHST are considered an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain health and safety concepts.
- Ability to deliver engaging and interactive training to diverse audiences.
- Strong knowledge of hazard identification and risk assessment practices.
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
- Strong organizational skills to manage training materials, schedules, and records.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to foster a positive learning environment.
- Ability to address questions and challenges during training and provide practical solutions.
- Flexibility to adapt training content and delivery based on operational needs and regulatory changes.
Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary of $105,000/year. Annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
