ABOUT THE ROLE
The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a temporary full-time Special Projects Coordinator with the Drinking Water and Watershed Protection (DWWP) Program in the Water Services department.
The Special Projects Coordinator contributes to the effective operation of DWWP and Water Services by assisting with implementation of the DWWP Action Plan (2020-2030) through program areas in outreach and education, stewardship, and water monitoring. This position supports the Department by assisting team members in their duties, as required, to meet service expectations, departmental goals, and objectives
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications include a degree in environmental studies, geography, environmental planning, public administration or a related field plus one (1) to three (3) years prior job-related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Prior experience in local government is considered an asset.
POSITION DETAILS
This is a temporary full-time (35 hours per week) Union posit i on for twelve mont h s, with the possibility of ending early or extension based on the operational needs of the department. The (2026) rate of pay is $42.09 to $44.30, plus 12.4% in lieu of benefits including vacation and statutory holidays, or the uninterrupted continuation of their benefits package as provided for in the Collective Agreement between the Regional District of Nanaimo and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 401.
