What are we looking for?

We are seeking a Structural Steel Drafter with proven SolidWorks experience to join our engineering and design team. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing detailed structural drawings, 3D models, and fabrication-ready documents for steel bridge and structural projects.

What you will do:

  • Produce accurate 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings for structural steel components using SolidWorks.
  • Interpret engineering design calculations, sketches, and specifications to create precise drawings.
  • Generate shop drawings, assembly drawings, and bill of materials (BOMs) for production.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to ensure design accuracy and feasibility.
  • Apply industry standards (CISC, AISC, CSA) and company drafting practices to all drawings.
  • Revise and update drawings as required to reflect design changes and field modifications.
  • Support project documentation, drawing control, and archiving according to company procedures.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving potential design or fabrication issues.

What you will need:

  • Diploma in Mechanical/Structural Drafting, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of drafting experience in the structural steel or bridge industry.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling, drawings, configurations, weldments).
  • Knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes, connections, and detailing.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or other CAD software.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
