This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 26 March 2026 and closing at 11:59 pm on 2 April 2026.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Manager Patient Registration and Central Booking, the Registration/ Admitting Clerk is responsible for office and clerical functions in the Emergency Department including: registering all Emergency patients, providing direction and information to ER patients and their families; utilizing EPIC registration module, documenting WSIB, collecting and documenting insurance information, creating financial forms and receiving payments, answering telephone inquiries and relaying accurate messages; morgue processes, and other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Medical Office Administration Diploma or equivalent combination of education and 2 years recent experience;

  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Knowledge of EPIC;

  • Keyboarding skills of 35 w.p.m. (tested);

  • Knowledge of medical terminology (tested);

  • Proven ability to work well in a high paced environment with frequent interruptions;

  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and to demonstrate initiative and be a self-starter;

  • Physically capable of reaching, pulling, bending, walking, lifting, carrying frequently throughout the shift to accomplish tasks;

  • Proven attention to detail;

  • The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritization, organizational and time-management abilities;

  • Must have satisfactory performance record;

  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public;

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area.
