The Livestock Branch with the Ministry of Agriculture has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a self-motivated engineer to join their team as aRegional Engineer toassist with ensuring environmentally sound development of the livestock industry in southern Saskatchewan.
Reporting to the Director, Agricultural Operations, the primary responsibilities required for this position are:
- To deliver the regulatory requirements of the Intensive Livestock Provisions ofThe Agricultural Operations Act.
- To conduct environmental site assessments and inspections, investigate complaints related to water pollution, and present information about the legislation and environmental protection.
- To provide design services and technical expertise to help livestock producers identify options to address environmental concerns
As the successful candidate, you will be a thorough, reliable and detail-oriented individual who has:
- Knowledge in Quaternary geology, hydrogeology and environmental risk assessment.
- Knowledge of waste storage, control works and drainage design.
- Knowledge of or interest in livestock production in Saskatchewan.
This position will be attractive to individuals who enjoy working with variety of people including livestock producers, rural municipalities and other government agencies.
Travel throughout southern Saskatchewan approximately once a week is required in this position.
Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental, Civil, Geological or Agricultural Engineering. In addition, the successful candidate must be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).
