Calypso Business Analyst
Our business unit supports all project delivery activities for Capital Markets Middle Office and Derivative Operations teams for both systems and process improvements. The incumbent will work with business partners from Accounting, Settlements and Confirmations and Collateral Management Teams. They will globally support the development and implementation of strategic directives, new business opportunities, product initiatives, and service developments for the Operations areas of the business. The successful candidate will be expected to be able to work independently, problem-solve and have hands-on working experience with all Calypso Back Office back-end functions.
Accountability
- Act as a lead liaison with the Capital Markets Middle Office and Derivative Operations teams in the management of day-to-day Calypso business issues
- Capture, analyze, and document Calypso technical requirements in support of key Accounting, Settlements and Confirmations and Collateral Management deliverables.
- Act as a Lead BA leading project workstreams, creating/implementing/executing Calypso User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans, and recommend actions related to the results.
- Design, Build and Test the Calypso Accounting Configuration Rules and Workflows
- Design, Build and Test the Settlement and Confirmation Rules and Workflows
- Design, Build and Test the Calypso Collateral Management Module Rules and Workflows
- Builds, sustains, and leverages relationships and people networks across business functions,
- Provides consultancy, collaborates with business partners and provides advice to business partners on system automation, usability of technology and supports process improvements
- Monthly Calypso Release Management and Regression Testing
Knowledge and Skills
- Must have 5-10 years of technical and/or operational experience with the Calypso Back Office Module including the Collateral Management Module
- Demonstrates versatility in technical, communication and problem-solving skillsets
- Is proactive, independent, has high energy, and a “step-up and do it,” attitude
- Can manage change and cope with complex and ambiguous situations
- Ability to learn new skills, talents and knowledge quickly
- Can manage multiple tasks at a time with verifying priorities
- Accounting, Operations and Collateral Management experience in a Capital Markets setting is required
- Business knowledge in Capital Markets Trading Products is required
- Knowledge of project management and system development life cycle is considered an asset
- Holding or in pursuit of designations such as an MBA or CFA is an asset
Investigates and identifies strategies to optimize business operations and services, and inform business decisions. Defines business requirements to inform technology build and operations by sourcing and analyzing relevant data, reviewing and documenting business processes and collaborating with business stakeholders. Sources business and market data to evaluate the effect of projects on business results. Also assesses the efficiency and the performance of technology (software, hardware and the wider IT system) to deliver expected business results. Identifies and analyzes malfunctions, system workflow, and troubleshoots issues raised by business.
- Elicits requirements and analyzes feasibility to ensure solutions/initiatives achieve the expected business outcomes.
- Supports various project teams across the project lifecycle to ensure development is aligned with the business requirements.
- Develops informative, coherent, and usable project documents (project artifacts) for multiple stakeholders covering functional and non-functional business requirements.
- Applies depth of domain & functional expertise for the assigned portfolio to drive the expected business value.
- Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
- Builds tests cases in order to validate business requirements and End-User Testing results.
- Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
- Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.
- Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
- Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.

$75,900.00 - $141,900.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
