The Communications and Public Inquiries Branch within the Ministry of Environment is seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented leader to be our Director of Communications, Public Inquiries. Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications and Public Inquiries, this position will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the ministry's public inquiry unit, which provides high quality customer service to the ministry's clients, stakeholders and the public and receives upwards of 20,000 inquiries each year.
- Maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure needs are proactively identified, collaboratively addressed and that issues are identified and effectively supported.
- Strategically developing opportunities to improve customer service delivery provided by the ministry.
- Implement and monitor business processes and service level agreements, making changes as necessary to ensure success.
The ideal candidate for this position will:
- Possess above-average communications, analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to deliver effective customer service to Ministry of Environment clients and stakeholders.
- Be a demonstrated leader with experience in issues management and working collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal.
- Be able to lead strategic initiatives, effectively manage change and achieve positive results.
- Be proficient in communicating information, analysis and advice to senior officials.
- Consistently demonstrate a commitment to excellence with the ministry and across government.
- Possess the ability to recognize, address and manage sensitive and shifting priorities will be key to ensuring a range of successful outcomes for the ministry.
Typically, the knowledge, skills and experience required for this position would have been obtained through an undergraduate, with 8 to 10 years of government experience with progressively increasing responsibilities.
