The Town of New Tecumseth is looking for 7 On-site Leads to join our team for the 2026 summer season.

Under the guidance and direction of the Coordinator, Recreation Programs, the Summer Camp
Assistant On-Site Lead is responsible for providing leadership to camp staff, as well as
supervise volunteers and participants within the summer camp program. This position
coordinates daily operations of the summer camp program including creating and completing
extended care planning, set up and take down checklists, break coverage for staff, and is the
secondary liaison to the families, communicating with parents/guardians at various times
throughout the day

How you contribute to our organization:

  • Plan, implement and supervise day camp programming for children in accordance with HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development.

  • Develop and implement the extended camp program plans.

  • Plan and provide break coverage to camp staff throughout the day.

  • Perform various customer service and administrative duties such as camper sign in and sign out, tracking paperwork, attendance, and safe arrival phone calls.

  • Assist with delivering staff training for new and returning staff.

  • Responsible for leading and participating in cooperative games, outdoor play, leisure experiences, crafts, sport activities, camp swim times, and day trips.

  • Communicate with parents/caregivers in a constructive, positive manner, providing daily feedback and supporting the maintenance of meaningful relationships with families.

  • Provide crisis support and respond to behavioural issues in accordance with Behavioural Management Systems methodologies.

What you bring to the team:

  • At a minimum attending high school.
  • Must be 17 years or older by hire date.
  • Requires Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification.
  • Ability to submit a clean Police Records Check, Vulnerable Sector Check where appropriate, upon hire.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development and Non-violent Crisis Intervention or Behaviour Management Systems is preferred.
  • Requires 1-2 years’ experience working with children, preferably in a camp environment, with at least 6 months in a leadership role.
  • Knowledge of the day-to-day structure of a day camp environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both written and verbal communication.
  • Commitment to providing a socially inclusive environment, responding with sensitivity to the diverse needs of others.
  • Camp operations are 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., Monday to Friday, from June 29th – September 2nd.
  • Staff training will take place in the evenings and on weekends throughout June. Attendance at these training sessions is mandatory.
  • This position is expected to work daytime, some evenings, and holidays as scheduled.

  • Position begins on May 11th.
  • Mandatory Staff Training – throughout the month of June
  • Senior Staff SCRA Training – May 14th
  • Summer Kick-Off Meeting – May 29th
  • All Camp Staff SCRA Training – May 30th
  • Canada Day Event – July 1st
  • Camps Begins – The week following the end of school
  • Camps Ends – The Friday before the Labour Day holiday

Wage:$18.79- $20.72, plus 4% vacation pay and optional enrolment in OMERS pension plan

**Hours:**Up to 35 hours per week from May 4th – June 26th
Up to 40 hours per week from June 29th – September 2nd
Up to 25 hours per week from September 7th - September 11th

**Locations:**New Tecumseth Recreation Centre (7300 Industrial Pkwy, Alliston) and Tottenham Community Fitness Centre (139 Queen St. N., Tottenham)

**Dates:**May 11th, 2026 – September 11th, 2026.
